D.C. OFFICIATING CAMP

​WHAT YOU'LL RECEIVE:

​

• Supervised and Video-Recorded Games: Every game at the camp is supervised and video-recorded, allowing officials to receive personalized feedback and review their performance. This process ensures that each official gets the targeted coaching they need to improve their skills.

​

• Classroom Sessions: Campers participate in approximately 12 hours of classroom instruction, covering key topics such as positioning, judgment, and communication. These sessions help officials understand the theory behind effective officiating and how to apply those principles on the ice.

• Expert Feedback: Campers receive direct feedback from staff with extensive officiating experience across collegiate, professional, and international levels. The diverse background of the instructors provides campers with a well-rounded perspective on what it takes to succeed at each level of the game.

• On-Ice Experience: Officials will officiate a minimum of four full NAHL tryout camp games in the three-official system. This gives them real-world experience working as both referees and linesmen, with opportunities to refine their skills in a competitive environment.

• Networking Opportunities: Campers have the chance to interact and network with league representatives from the USHL and NAHL. These interactions provide valuable insight into the expectations of these leagues and help officials build relationships that can lead to future opportunities.

• Q&A Sessions with Officiating Leaders: The camp includes Q&A sessions with league directors of officiating from multiple NCAA conferences and professional hockey. These sessions provide campers with direct access to top officiating experts and a deeper understanding of the pathways to success in the officiating world.

• Power Skating Ice Sessions: In addition to on-ice officiating, the camp offers power skating sessions, focusing on skating technique, speed, and agility. These sessions are designed to help officials improve their skating skills, which are essential for keeping up with the fast-paced nature of the game.
